Blog Topic 9

On January 14th Tunisia's ex-President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali fled to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after a week-long violent popular uprising against him. In Tunis many citizens were angry over corruption and unemployment, and they burned a train station to the ground on January 15th. Many shops were also looted. New leaders were sworn in on January 16th and began trying to restore order, but the protests sparked movements in Egypt and elsewhere in the region.
