Blog 11- Final Blog!!

Being born and raised in Nebraska I think this map is quite funny. It has Nebraska being the heart and soul of the United States. Well actually it has it labeled as the United States. The KKK takes up most of the southeast then Florida is occupied by mostly Cubans (according to the map). I found it very interesting that most of the stuff posted on this map seemed to be stereo types of some kind.

I believe that they should continue to help the Sub-Saharan African countries. Maybe not as much as they have been, but they should continue to send some sort of aid. With the aid coming in hopefully someday they will be able to get up on their on two feet and function on their own. With that in place it would help further the United States trade and other countries.  It would expand the trade market throughout the world. Then globalization would be greater and more abundent throughout the world.

On January 14th Tunisia's ex-President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali fled to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after a week-long violent popular uprising against him. In Tunis many citizens were angry over corruption and unemployment, and they burned a train station to the ground on January 15th. Many shops were also looted. New leaders were sworn in on January 16th and began trying to restore order, but the protests sparked movements in Egypt and elsewhere in the region.

This map shows a overhead view of northern United States, Canada, Greenland and then Most of Russia. I never realized that if you would fly from Chicago to Moscow you would just fly directly north over the Artic Ocean and Greenland. I thought you would fly up through Alaska then into the Eastern tip of Russia. It is a cool perspective that I would of never realized without google earth.

I used the website http://www.drugs.com/opium.html look up most of my information. I also used the national geographic website that was posted in the topic of blog number 7. I  found it very interesting that there is so much opium poppy seeds being grown in Afghanistan.  In the province of Badakhshan 5 years ago almost 9,000 acres were being grown and now its just 1,500 being grown.
Opium is a substance found in the seeds of the opium poppy. Opium, which contains morphine, is extracted from the poppy seeds and used to produce heroin. Heroin is highly illegal and a growing problem throughout the United States.
Heroin is most often injected. It can also be snorted or smoked. Smoking and sniffing heroin do not produce a "rush" as quickly or as intensely as injection. No matter the intake of the drug it is a very addictive bad habit.
