Blog Topic 4

Over the past couple of weeks we have been watching “Slumdog Millionaire.” Throughout the movie I noticed many things that caught my eye. A few of them were the slums they were living in and also much of the clothing that was being worn.
The women would many times be wearing what is called a Saree (many different spellings). A Saree is a strip of unstitched cloth, ranging from four to nine meters in length that is draped over the body in various styles. It is usually worn around the waist with one end over the shoulder. It is usually worn with another blouse called a choli or ravika.
The Saree has been around in India for many years. Many women love it so much because it can be worn in so many various styles and colors. It looks good on every woman in India. It is considered to be one of the most graceful and ethnic attires.
