In this article it talks about how hot it was on Australia day this year. At 2 PM in Sydney it had reached 31 degrees Celsius or 87.8 degrees Fahrenheit. It was the second hottest Australian Day since 1991. In Penrith it was suppose to get 42 degrees Celsius or 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
On page 636 in our textbook it talks about global warming in the Oceania region. Australia suffers from various droughts and wildfires. A major contribution to New Zealand’s greenhouse pollution is the methane from the country’s large livestock population. The Pacific Islands have emphasized on how to adapt to the climate change rather than on getting rid of the carbon emissions.
A 20 year old Narre Warren man and his 65 year old father were working together to smuggle in Afghans and Pakistanis to Australia from Indonesia. The father mysteriously died months after they were arrested. The son was sentenced to 9 months in prison.
On pages 636-637 in the textbook it explains how modern population patterns reflect the indigenous and European settlement. In countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and the Hawaiian Islands, Anglo-European migration has contributed to the concentration and distribution of today’s population.
